Project brief

We developed the AX web portal for The LEGO Group to optimize e-commerce processes and simplify the daily operations of employees and partners worldwide. This powerful system facilitates communication, marketing campaigns, and digital content management, ensuring seamless operations.

The resulting platform enables managers to independently create gift finders, shorten URLs, generate QR codes, share files, configure product pages, and design landing pages – eliminating the need for hiring external agencies, designers, and coders. This results in significant time and cost savings.

Our approach

Our long-standing client, The LEGO Group, initially sought our expertise to automate specific e-commerce processes that were consuming an excessive amount of their managers´ time.

Together, we designed several web applications that simplify and accelerate critical tasks. These tools were then integrated into a comprehensive system offering robust analytics and easy user roles, teams, and permissions management. The platform was built to be scalable, accessible, and secure.

Execution

Throughout development, we worked closely with The LEGO Group's managers to ensure each system feature was tailored to the specific needs of different teams and roles. Many tools are interconnected, which expands their utility.

In addition to developing customized tools, we prioritized clarity, accessibility, and reliability in the user interface. We chose an Amazon cloud solution to guarantee that hundreds of users worldwide can work with AX while the system remains stable, fast, and secure. We significantly improved platform performance by implementing a headless architecture, which separates the front end from the back end and uses APIs for communication.

Shortened links and QR codes have become critical marketing assets for The LEGO Group, connecting physical stores with the digital world. Shoppers can scan these codes to explore the full potential of LEGO® products, thereby increasing brand engagement and driving sales through enhanced digital experiences.

The AX platform has proven instrumental in optimizing processes and introducing more efficient practices within The LEGO Group globally:

  • Since 2021, we have been developing the platform for the CEEMEA region (Central Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa).
  • Since 2023, teams in the WE (Western Europe) and APAC (Asia Pacific, including the USA, Australia, Canada, Korea, and Singapore) regions have also adopted it.

By simplifying and standardizing key processes, teams at The LEGO Group now collaborate more effectively. The AX platform dramatically reduces time for e‑commerce and retail managers – shaving off days or even weeks of waiting for external agencies, allowing them to create campaign pages or gift finders themselves within minutes. This not only speeds up execution and adds flexibility but also cuts campaign costs considerably.
